Penelope is hot... and so is her sister!

Hey all. I'm back. Don't get used to it.

I may have been blown away by the uncanny resemblance of the Cruz sisters - weren't we all - but the real shocker is the new fashion line by the hot duo. It's GOOD!

Word on the street is the collection will hit stores September 19 and consist of red-carpet-inspired evening wear, jeans, knits and daywear, based on vintage pieces from their own wardrobes. According to Penelope:

“This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. We just had to find the right people to do it with. We’ve always loved clothes – we used to hide in the bathroom with fashion magazines and say, ‘I want that one.’ We’d get a pencil and mark the pictures, and show how we’d transform them at home.”

Oscars 2007 (image heavy)

We will start out with the awards that I actually care about.

Motion Picture of the Year
The Departed
* No surprise there.

Actor in a Leading Role
Forest Whitaker, The Last King of Scotland
*Again, he was the odds on favorite. No surprise.

Actress in a Leading Role
Helen Mirren, The Queen
*I can't say I am surprised about this one. Although, it is rare that an actress over 50 wins. She's amazing.

Actor in a Supporting Role
Alan Arkin, Little Miss Sunshine
*Sweeeeeeet.

Actress in a Supporting Role
Jennifer Hudson, Dream Girls
*Boring. She's a fad. People with be done with her by March.

Director
Martin Scorsese, The Departed
*Go Marty! It was SO awesome to see him FINALLY win an Oscar. It was great to see the audience reaction when they called his name. Everyone was so happy with him.

Best Animated Feature
Happy Feet
*It's a cute film. It is a bit disheartening that none of the animated films nominated this year were actually cartoons and not digital animation. Don't get me wrong. I am all for computer animation. Toy Story, The Invincibles... yadda yadda... are some of my favorite films, but I miss old school animation. You know, when the characters are drawn by ::gasp:: hand!

Original Screenplay

Little Miss Sunshine
*Again... sweeeeeeeeet.

Foreign-Language Film
The Lives of Others (Germany)
*I was really pulling for Pan's, but to be honest, I haven't seen any of the other nominees, so as far as I know this film could be amazing.

Documentary
An Inconvenient Truth
*I was very happy about this one. I feel like it was a very important film and hopefully it will wake a lot of people up to what's actually happening to our home.

Art Direction
Pan’s Labyrinth
*Yay. This film was really gorgeous.

Cinematography
Pan’s Labyrinth

Now on to the fun part. The fashion!

Nicole Kidman.

I adored her fire engine red Balenciaga gown. I know some were not to fond of the giant bow but I loved it. I think it added some whimsy to the whole ensemble. Her hair was amazing. Seemed to be the style of the evening. Straight and to the side.I wasn't crazy about her make-up. Her eyebrows seemed a bit sever. I loved her soft red lipstick tho. And I wish I had a better picture of her shoes because I loved them.

Naomi Watts
Gorgeous as always. And... surprise! Is that a baby bump? I think SO! I sure hope so as well. I love babies! There was report of a slip up by her stylist to the affect of (I am paraphrasing here since I can't find the quote) "Her gorgeous Escada gown is perfect to hide her most valuable new asset. Her baby bump!" Oops. I suppose we will just have to wait until she makes an official announcement.

Back to the fashion. Like I said, her dress was Escada and it was gorgeous. At first I wasn't crazy about the arms, but the more I look at it the more I love it. Her make-up, gorgeous. (How can it not be on her!?) And she finished it all up with some stunning Chopard jewelry.

Reese Witherspoon

Now, I haven't been able to stand her ever since I read Kevin Smith's Silent Bob Speaks in which he tells a rather unflattering story about the actress and refers to her as "Greasy (pronounced Greazy) Reese. But anyways, I couldn't help but admit that she looked simply STUNNING. I mean, really gorgeous. There was nothing about her look that I could find that I didn't love entirely. Her Nina Ricci gown was a color that can only be described as "eggplant". Doesn't sound flattering but it was. It also had amazing movement to it. Her hair and make-up were perfect. Simple and clean.

Jessica Beals

She is getting a lot of flak for this fuchsia Balenciaga gown. I for one loved it. It's different than what you usually see on the red carpet. Not stuffy at all and very fun. It also looks comfortable and the color is gorgeous. Her hair and make-up however could have used some work.

Cate Blanchett

I have to admit that when she walked out to present I wasn't crazy about this Armani Privé gown. But when I got a closer look the only word that came to mind was exquisite. She looked amazing. The detail in that dress is insane!

Jada Pinkett Smith

Can we say butch? I HATED this slim fitting, gold, Carolina Herrera gown. I just thought it did nothing for her. Made her look flat and straight up and down. Just because your thin doesn't mean you can wear anything.

Rachel Weisz

I am a huge Vera Wang fan. I dream of a Vera Wang wedding gown. But I'm sorry Vera, I hated this silver number. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it's awful. Rachel still looks stunning tho. Her hair and make-up are very 40s glam. Love.

Penelope Cruz

I am in love with this Versace gown! Some say the color washes her out. Some say the bottom half looks like a chicken. I say it's genius and it's gorgeous. Her make-up was flawless. Her hair was a bit severe for me, but she pulls it off nicely.

Cameron Diaz

Meh. That's really all I can think to say. I don't hate it. I don't love it. I just... meh... it. I also have one this to say to Cameron... SUNSCREEN! In 5 more years she is going to look like one of those terrifying 50 year old women with bleached hair, red nails, a bustier and skin the texture and look of leather that walk around my mall hitting on the sales associates at Abercrombie.

Kristen Dunst

What? Everything was wrong with this. The dress, the make-up, the hair... Grosssss. Hated it.

Anne Hathaway

Cleef and Arpels jewelry, hair and make-up, amazing. Gorgeous. Stunning. Dress... errm, not so much. I hated it. She should know better. She seems to make this mistake again and again. Does she have a stylist? If she does she maybe should consider "letting her go". It does nothing for her shape and what is with the big black bow?

Jennifer Hudson

I am torn. I adored Jennifer Hudson's chocolate brown Oscar De La Renta gown. It fit her perfectly. Gave her curves in all the right places and the color was gorgeous. Now, as for that little metallic shrug number she wore over it? What the hell?

Jennifer Lopez

I did not care for this Marc Jacobs gown. I adore Marc and love almost everything the graces the runway, but this just didn't do it for me. It was far to Grecian. And it looked much to much like she was trying to hide something under there. Her hair and make-up were flawless as usual.

*I have been informed that her gown was Marchesa, NOT Marc Jacobs. Stupid E Red Carpet. Jay said it was MJ! ::pout:: Were there goes my whole assessment.

Helen Mirren

Um... wow? Ya, wow. She looks amazing! Plenty of women half her age couldn't pull off this neckline and don't look near as good. This Christian Lacroix was perfect.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh. Ugh. What is with this dress?
I actually like the color of this Zac Posen gown. Kind of a pumpkin. It looks amazing on her skin. It's the rest of the dress that I can't stand. I don't even know what's going on there. I like that it looks a bit vintage but what is up with the top half? Gwyneth's hair and make-up really save her on this one. Gorgeous.

(^ on another look... maybe I am being to harsh on her?)

Portia DeRossi

Love the dress. Love the hair. Love the make-up. Love everything. I've heard talks that she is a bit bony looking, but I don't see that at all. I love the open back. She looks amazing.

Maggie Gyllenhaal

I think she looked great. I don't have anything particularly interesting to say about her, but I thought she looked nice. The color of that Proenza Schouler gown was gorgeous. She sported the theme of the evening. One shoulder gowns. All and all, very pretty.

Hey Saaaaaaaaaarsgaaaaarrrrrrd. Lookin' good. ::thumbs up::

Kate Winslet

She looked gorgeous as always. Clean and elegant in this Vintage Valentino. I admit I would like to see her in something a little more exciting. But it's nice to know that she'll always deliver a stunning appearance.

Beyonce Knowles

Her hair was gorgeous and her face was flawless. She looks nice in this Armani Privé gown but it just looks too much like a Wedding dress or something to me. Or something she would have worn in "Dream Girls". Maybe she should leave those fashion sensibilities on set.

Now, i was going to do a very in depth review of the men's fashions just as I did the women's, but this is already way to long. Barely anyone is going to get this far anyway.

So I will just point out my two favorites.

It seems everyone's favorite of the night was Leonardo DiCaprio. He looked stunning and very handsome. Definitely one of my faves.

But my number 1 favorite has to be Clive Owen. Just gorgeous! I love that he didn't do that standard tuxedo with the white shirt, black bow tie. I adore the black on black.

Well, that concludes my 2007 Oscar wrap up! I hope you enjoyed it.

Perfect.

Hello hello my lovelies. This post is about one thing, and one thing only...

How frakken amazing are the new Louis Vuitton ads featuring the stunning Scarlett Johansson(sp?)?

To amazing for words. THAT'S how amazing.

Try not to faint.

I feel like an 1800s like swoon follwed by a petite faint is the only reaction that will do these justice. <3
